Jim has 30+ years
industrial experience, including 25+ years managing high technology
projects, programmes and companies in and around Cambridge.
He has managed
multiple, concurrent software and hardware projects, a joint UK-USA
development project and 2 Pan-European programmes.
The latter of
these is believed to be the largest European IT Infrastructure
Outsourcing Project there has been.
Areas of
expertise include: project rescue/turnaround; software development; hardware development, release
and configuration management; process management; service management;
capacity management; change management; transition management and
software validation.
30 years software
and hardware design experience, from designing fault tolerant avionics
computers down to the micro-code level, to Windows software and numerous
web sites.
Jim has been an
enthusiast for the Internet/Web since its inception and is particularly
keen to change it to be more user oriented. He has worked on numerous
web strategies, including a system for eliminating credit card fraud and
another user based portal which is still under wraps. He has created
several database driven web tools such as:

pre-selection system based on skills metrics

system for websites.
He has designed
and delivered a wide range of software and hardware products, from rare
book copiers for The British Library, to networked cable and harness
test systems with both embedded and Windows GUI software.
A background in
C, C++, Visual C++, VB, VB.Net, ASP.Net, XML, COM, DCOM he has a wealth of expertise in MS
Office suite plus Project, Project Server, Access, SQL Server, Visio, Source Safe, PVCS Tracker,
Rational/RUP and several DTP and drawing packages.
An OO and
Iterative design enthusiast, Jim is a firm believer in the structured
approach to software, with top-down systems and architecture coupled to
bottom-up modular design and testing.
Jim has a 'data driven
universe' view of life and his focus is on delivering business solutions
using technology.
